Emelie ELL

Emelie Roche September 24, 1918 November 4, 2009 Our much loved mother and grandmother, Emelie Roche passed away peacefully on November 4, 2009 at the age of 91. Her memory will be cherished by her sons, Dwayne (Bonnie) St. Albert, AB; Harvey (Bertha) Red Lake, ON; her daughter, Kim (Steve) Saunders, Saskatoon; and her grandchildren, Candace Roche (Chris Veldhoen) Red Lake, ON; Nadine Roche, Thunder Bay, ON, Daniel, Ellise and Andrew Saunders, all of Saskatoon. Emelie was predeceased by her husband, Jim; her brother, Henry Ell; and her sisters, Katie Bitz, Angelina Bitz and Mary Dunford. She is survived by her brother, John Ell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Emelie was born and raised in Holdfast, SK. She completed her training as a registered nurse at Holy Family Hospital in Prince Albert. Over the next 37 years, Emelie worked in hospitals in various locations, including RUH and Sherbrooke Nursing Home in Saskatoon. Emelie's fondest memories were highlighted by the births of her children and grandchildren. She took great pride in following their childhoods and accomplishments. Emelie retired from nursing in 1977, with time to enjoy her plentiful garden, knitting for her grandchildren, Golden Age League bowling, reading and completing countless handicraft projects. Her favorite place to be was in her children's homes and her most precious times were celebrating Christmas as a family. Prayers for Emelie will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Fr. Raymond Senger. Both services will be held at St. Francis Xavier Parish. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. A heartfelt thank you to the 7th floor staff at St. Paul's Hospital who cared for Emelie with compassion and dignity, and provided much support to the family. In memory of Emelie, the family requests donations may be made to a charity of one's choice, in lieu of flowers.
