Connie CONWAY

GRAY Connie It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Connie Gray on November 1st, 2009. Connie was born in Victoria on January 30th, 1939. She is predeceased by her parents Mary McPhee and Ray Conway. Connie was a kind, compassionate and gentle person and she will be missed so very much. Connie married Bob in 1960 and they spent 50 loving years together mostly in the Capilano-Highlands area of North Vancouver. Connie loved travelling and would often accompany Bob on his interesting business destinations. Upon retirement, Connie and Bob continued exploring the world. Connie's favorite countries were Australia, New Zealand and Kenya. The most important part of Connie's life was her family and her friends - her husband Bob, her children, Alison (and Phil) Marshall, Scott (and Inge) Gray and especially her beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Kelsey, Tyler, "Miss" Finley and Charlie. Connie had a sincere, happy, and magical connection to each of her grandchildren. The time and energy invested in loving her grandchildren was second to none and deeply rooted in dedication, enormous patience, and unwavering interest in their lives. Connie had many close and long-time friends who shared happiness, laughs, good times, and trying times. Connie's friendships were so important to her and many friends were considered part of her family. The last year or so of Connie's life was a precious one with many challenges, bits of mischief, special memories and the incredible gift of "borrowed" time. Connie was amazingly courageous, strong, positive and inspirational in how she managed her health, but more importantly, how she carried on with her life. She led the way for the rest of us and showed us that peace was part of the process. Connie treasured Rufina and the wonderful women in chemotherapy. Connie, Bob, Alison and Scott would also like to thank Dr. Smiljanic and Dr. Edmunds for their tremendous endurance, kindness, competence, and care. This LGH team, and Palliative Care team made a positive difference to Connie's care at the end of her life. For that, Connie's family is grateful. A celebration of Connie's life will take place at Highlands United Church, 3255 Edgemont Blvd in North Vancouver at 2:00 on November 12th, 2009. In lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite charity for children. Connie, Mom, Grannie - We loved you with all our hearts. We will miss you deeply.
