John Wilkes GILLESPIE

GILLESPIE John (Jack) Wilkes Born October 15, 1918 in Carmangay, Alberta, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2009 at Saanich Peninsula Hospital. Jack moved to Vancouver as a boy. He married Esther Mayers in 1943 before joining the Air Force. He later worked for the BC Dept of Highways then formed a construction products sales company. He made homes in Surrey, Delta and on Galiano. After retirement Jack and Esther did some traveling while Jack enjoyed golf, crib, and Lions meetings with his friends. Predeceased by wife Esther, brothers George and Ivan, sister Kay. Survived by sister Ann; daughters Gail, Joy and Janet; grandchildren Rob, Laurie, Brad, Scott and Russ; great-grandchildren Jack, Tyler, Spencer, Max, Kai, Brayden, and Halia. His humour and gentle nature will be missed by family and friends. Graveside service at Fraser Cemetery, New Westminster 11:00 am Thursday, November 12. Galiano Memorial service at noon Saturday, November 14 at the Lions Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to Galiano Island Lions Club would be appreciated.
