OBITUARY DOUGLAS LLOYD SAMPLE CD Born March 8, 1926 passed with courage and dignity from St. Mary's Hospital on November 6, 2009. Son of the late Wilfred Sample and the late Beulah Dubeau. Only brother of Lorraine Lunan. Husband of the late Gwendolyn Cockerton. Devoted father of Beverley (Gary), James (Jo-Ann), Donna (Reza). Cherished Grandpa of Jennifer (Brian), Jill, Baback, Yussie (Steve), Sara and Kaveh . Proud great-grandfather of Tyler Douglas. He also leaves to mourn his nieces Gail (Rick), Penny, Janet (Kevin) and his many dear friends and associates from around the world. He served overseas in No. 6 (R.C.A.F.) Group, Bomber Command with No. 415 Swordfish Squadron at Eastmoor, Yorkshire. Completed a tour of 33 operational sorties during which time he was commissioned as a Pilot Officer and promoted to Flying Officer. He was the founding President and Chairman of the Canada Branch of the Yorkshire Air Museum And Allied Air Forces Memorial. On November 6, 2006, he was awarded the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation for his tireless effort to preserve the memory of all the young flyers and air crew who sacrificed their lives during World War ll. Sadly missed and forever remembered by everyone whose lives he touched. A memorial service will take place at 10:30 a.m, Saturday, November 28, 2009, at St Mark's Anglican Church, 1650 Decelles, St.Laurent, QC. Published in the Montreal Gazette on 11/11/2009
