Blanche WEBSTER

BISHOP, Blanche Webster Following a lengthy illness in hospital, Blanche died in the presence of her beloved husband, Glen; and nephew, Norman, during the early hours of Tuesday, November 18, 2008. Blanche was born in Northumberland, England. Blanche and Glen were friends from childhood. Her eldest sister married Glen's older brother. In 1940, Blanche went to Australia as a war time guest until 1945 when she returned to England, where she and Glen resumed their relationship. They were married in 1949 and in 1954 they emigrated to Canada. In Edmonton, Blanche gained employment as the Executive Assistant to the President of the Alberta Research Council of Alberta. In 1983 they moved to Victoria, where Blanche became involved in projects in support of the Bastion Theatre. As a life long Anglican, Blanche was very involved in the programs and activities of St. Michael and All Angels Church. She was a valued member of the Altar Guild. Personal relationships were very important to Blanche and she remained in contact with friends in all parts of the world. The postman said he delivered more mail by far to Blanche than to anyone on his beat. As a member of the Pacific Animal Therapy Society, Blanche and our Westie visited extended care homes for over a decade. Blanche will be sadly missed by her beloved husband, Glen, and her beloved Westie "Geordie. " To celebrate Blanche's life, a service will be held in the Church of St. Michael and All Angels, 4733 West Saanich Road, (Royal Oak), at 2 pm on Friday, November 28, 2008. 513934 Published in the Victoria Times-Colonist from 11/22/2008 - 11/27/2008
