HUNTER, John Munro (Jack) teacher, engineer, gardener Born October 31st, 1926 in Fernie, BC and died peacefully at his home in North Saanich, BC, on November 20th, 2008 at the age of 82. Jack was the much-loved husband of Louise, proud father of Jim of Vancouver and Heather (Brian) Gartshore of North Saanich. He was a very special Grampsie to Meghan and James. Jack was predeceased by his sister Brisbane Beairsto and is survived by his brothers Jim (Marjorie) and Harry (Wilma), and sister Kathleen Hunter. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Moira Wotherspoon and Judy Alderson, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack was a mechanical engineer who spent most of his career with Eldorado Nuclear Ltd, and latterly Echo Bay Mines. Thanks to the care and expertise of Dr. Helen Anderson, Cheryl Upright, Dr. Elaine Wai, and the exceptional staff at the BC Cancer Agency, Jack was given several extra years, and for this our family is grateful. Our sincere gratitude to Dr. Terry Hartrick and Lee for their guidance and care over many years. We greatly appreciate the visits of home care nurse Coreen Kempling, the Beacon home support workers, and the PRT. If desired and in lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory may be made to the BC Cancer Agency, Victoria Hospice or the Mt. Newton Centre. Please join us for a celebration of Jack's life on Saturday November 29th from 2:00 pm, at 9751 Glenelg Avenue, North Saanich. 514077 Published in the Victoria Times-Colonist from 11/22/2008 - 11/23/2008
