LESTER, Vera Eleanor (Doan) - Passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health-Mitton Site, on Wednesday November 4th, 2009 at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Lester (2002). Loving mother of Deb (Joe) O'Driscoll, Pam Bettridge and Ron (Sonya) Lester. Cherished grandmother of Ryan (Erin) and Brianne (Sean) O'Driscoll, Tyler (Shannon), Shane and Jordy (Lindsay) Bettridge and Lauren Lester. Dear sister of Evelyn (Doug) Matson and predeceased by sisters Irene Little, Marjorie Cundick and her brother Ken Doan. Vera was a U.C.W. and Charter Member at Grace United Church, a passionate member of the Gracious Quilters which she dearly loved, volunteered for years with the Red Cross for Meals on Wheels where she received her 70 year pin, was an avid Bridge player and will be dearly missed by her bridge buddies. Vera had just recently moved into Landmark Village where new friends quickly became like family. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 6, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. A memorial service to celebrate Vera's life will be held at Grace United Church 990 Cathcart Blvd., on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Parkinson's Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
