Margaret HARVIE

Peacefully on November 7, 2009 at Trillium Health Centre at the age of 82. Predeceased by parents Fred and Jessie Harvie of Thorold; her first husband Roy Shantz (1986) and second husband Arthur Beach (2000); and youngest son Tim Shantz (1999). She will be sorely missed by surviving son Paul Shantz (Ann Dunlop); and granddaughters Elizabeth and Ellen of Toronto; sister Kathleen Pattison (Bruce) of Georgetown; brother Fred Harvie (Shirley) of Niagara Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was a Registered Nurse who graduated from the Mack School of Nursing in St. Catharines. She considered nursing to be more a calling than a career and conducted herself in accordance with its principles throughout her entire working life. Even after retirement, Margaret devoted herself to delivering care to others whenever she was permitted the opportunity and saw a need. She was a fiercely independent person, loved her Pekingese dogs, enjoyed a wonderful marriage with Roy and new experiences with Art, and occasionally indulged a fondness for jewellery. The family will receive friends at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, 905-877-3631, on Tuesday, November 10th from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, November 11th from 2-4 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
