JOHN BARRINGTON ABEL (1924 -- 2009) Passed away suddenly, at home, surrounded by friends and neighbours, on November 8, 2009. He was married for sixty two years to Barbara Anne (nee Kelk). He is survived by his sons Bruce (Colleen), Robert (Barbara), Donald (Dawn) and Michael as well as seven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. He was predeceased by his brothers Keith and Robin of England and survived by his sister Daphne, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their children in England. John was born in London, England and emigrated to Canada during WWII. He was an avid skier into his eighties and enjoyed Craigleith Ski Club as well as many trips to Aspen and Switzerland. He ran his own sales agency for over thirty years and is a life member of the Canadian Professional Sales Association. John found time for gardening, bridge and afternoon tea with a sticky bun every day at 4 p.m. He was a keen member of the Beaver Winter Club as well as The Loyal, Ancient and Honourable Order of The Unicorn. John loved to spend time at Lake of Bays more than anywhere else. A Memorial Service will be held at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Avenue West (two lights west of Yonge Street), on Sunday, November 15 at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow.
