Gopal Singh BARIANA

GOPAL SINGH BARIANA (June 5, 1941 - November 8, 2009) With the same tenacious courage and quiet dignity with which he lived his life, Dr. Gopal Bariana completed his life journey on Sunday, November 8, 2009. He is survived by his wife April and his loving children Simran, Sam and Chere. He absolutely lived for them. He was blessed to enjoy their journey into adulthood, knowing he was instrumental in guiding their lives. Gopal was born in Nangal Isher, Punjab, India to an engineer father, Hukum Singh and Channan Kour. His family members were landowners/ farmers, physicians and soldiers. He possessed a sharp wit and intellect, high morals and ethics and a passionate love of nature and animals. Gopal was a true and loyal friend, a steadfast and compassionate parent and a consummate professional. He possessed a generous and uplifting spirit and he cherished his friendships. He studied medicine in In dia (Bombay: BDS and MDS), Canada (University of Toronto 1973, DDS), the USA (Lancaster Cleft Palate Institute in Pennsylvania) and completed a fellowship in clinical studies at Sick Children's Hospital. Then he practiced dental surgery in Brampton for 25 years, until a stroke in 1998 forced him to retire. Now, he has found everlasting peace in God's hands. He will ever be fondly remembered by his family, NIMDAC friends, neighbours, patients, medical co-workers and colleagues.
