HAINES, Ronald (Ron) George 2009-11-26 Mr. Ronald (Ron) George Haines, age 93 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre. Ron was born July 15, 1916 in Nipigon, was raised and spent most of his life in Dorion. After returning from service in the Army overseas, he had a variety of jobs before settling down to work with Ontario Hydro from which he retired August 1, 1974 allowing him to spend his later years enjoying his love of hunting, fishing and woodworking. Ron moved to Thunder Bay in 1991, living on his own for a number of years. During this time he became a member of the Moose Lodge, Branch 844, where he continued to disc as he had in Dorion and Hurkett. When he was no longer able to live alone, he moved into Glacier Ridge and later Chartwell. The family are very appreciative of the love and caring Ron received from the staff of both facilities. Ron is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Francis; mother Harriet; brother Peter and sisters Harriet and Emma. Funeral services for the late Mr. Ronald Haines will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, November 30, 2009 at the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James with the Rev. Scott Gale officiating. A private family interment service will take place in Dorion Cemetery at a later date. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers donations to the Lung Association, Canadian Wildlife Federation or charity of choice would be gratefully appreciated.
