Del Nin 2009-11-29 Mrs. Gail (Dufault) Del Nin, age 72 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2009 in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Gail was born in Port Arthur, Ontario on February 3, 1937. A lifelong resident of Thunder Bay, she attended Port Arthur Collegiate Institute and in 1959 graduated from Queen‘s University with a Bachelor of Arts in languages. She spent her career teaching French and was known to many as Madame Del Nin or simply Madame. A dedicated educator, she conveyed her passion to everyone she encountered. Gail met Louie in 1959, and they were married in 1961, beginning their journey together. She was a loving and proud wife and mother, very devoted to her family, supporting them in all their pursuits. She delighted in her grandson and her time with him was precious. Gail gave freely of herself in caring for sick family and friends. A long time member of TOPS, Gail served on the Executive for many years and was much loved by her colleagues. She was very committed to proper diet, exercise and fitness. Gail loved travelling and enjoyed discovering the world with her husband. An accomplished baker, she took pleasure in surprising friends and family with their favourite treats. She was a voracious reader, often completing several novels each week. Gail‘s faith was strong and she was a member of St. Margaret‘s Catholic Women‘s League. Gail is survived by her loving husband of 48 years Italo (Louie). Gail will be sadly missed by her 2 sons: Michael (Carmelina) and Jeffrey (Pamela), and grandson Matthew. She is survived by her brother David (Barbara) Dufault, sister Helen (Harry) Ahola and numerous nieces and nephews. Gail was predeceased by her parents Helen and David Dufault and brother Donald Dufault. Funeral services for the late Gail Del Nin will be held on Monday, November 30th, leaving the Harbourview Funeral Centre at 10:30 a.m. for Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Margaret`s Roman Catholic Church, 88 Clayte Street, to be celebrated by Rev. Ciaran Donnelly. Entombment to follow in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum in St. Andrew`s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation ,or to the Thunder Bay Chapter of the Canadian Celiac Association. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Intensive Care Unit at TBRHSC for their remarkable care and compassion.
