BENNETT AUGUST 20, 1935 – DECEMBER 18, 2004 RESERVE MINES It is with great sadness we announce the death of Arthur W. Bennett age 69 of 7 Rear Main Street, Reserve Mines. Art passed away Saturday, December 18, 2004 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Burkes Falls, Ontario, Art was the only son of the late Fred and Eunice (Starr) Bennett. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines. He was educated in Burkes Falls and North Bay, Ontario. He taught school in Rupert’s House, Quebec and Fairholme, Ontario from 1957 – 1960. He joined the Navy and served as a medical Assistant from 1960 – 1973. He was employed at Camp Hill Hospital for one year and then served in Canadian Corps of Commissioners for six years, retiring in 1980. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 42 years, Theresa (Hines), Reserve Mines, two daughters, Heather (Vince) Walsh, Sydney, Maureen, New Waterford, three loving grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary and Sarah Walsh. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant sister. Visitation for Mr. Bennett will be held Monday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines. Fr. Gerald Campbell will be officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Reception to follow in the church hall. If so desired, donations in Art’s memory may be made to Palliative Care (Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney) or St. Joseph’s Cemetery Fund, (Reserve Mines).
