Lulia B. Sabine Lulia "Lu" Bessie Sabine (79), of Salisbury, and recently at ProTem Health Services, Moncton, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday March 10, 2004, following a long illness. Born in Salem, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Garfield W. Ryder and Bessie L. (O'Neill) Ryder Martin. She attended the Havelock Superior School, enlisted in the C.W.A.C., was a World War II Veteran and was stationed in Ottawa and Saint John. Lulia married the Rev. Ronald T. Sabine, Sr. on January 29, 1945. Throughout her marriage of 59 years, she was a supportive wife and helpmate to Ronald in the ministries of the Reformed Baptist Church, Church of the Nazarene, Methodist Church and United Church of Canada. She was an Adherent of the Christian Congregational Church. She worked as a secretary at Three Rivers High School in Quebec, and at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens in Moncton. She served on the District 16 School Board and was a devoted advocate for the preservation of localized education. Lulia loved God and the natural world and spent time watching the birds and other wildlife around her homes. She enjoyed singing, crossword puzzles, gardening, needlecrafts, travelling and visiting with her children and grandchildren. Lulia will be greatly missed by her husband, Ronald T. Sabine, Sr.; her four children, Elizabeth Sabine of Calais, Vermont; Cheryl Ross (Greg), Brampton, ON; Ronald Sabine, Jr. (Linda), Moncton; Pamela Sabine (Gary Racine), Salisbury; and her beloved six grandchildren, Paul "PJ" and Trevor Reinhardt, Brian and Lindsay Ross, and Ronald III and Sarah Sabine. She is also survived by her brothers, Les Ryder (Rachel), Moncton; Loyl Ryder (Pauline), Salisbury; Leighton Ryder (Dolly); Calgary, AB. Sisters Lynda Ryder, Moncton; Gerry (Myron) Clarke, Havelock; Loretta Hopkins, Portland, OR; and many nieces and nephews. Lulia was predeceased by her brothers LeRoy Ryder, Moncton; Lawrence Ryder, Toronto, ON; and Lorne Ryder of Moncton. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton , Saturday 2 to 4, 7 to 9. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday March 14, 2004, 2pm. Rev. Owen Dawe officiating. Reception following the service. Interment, Fair Haven Cemetery.
