George Halliday Myers, 71 George Halliday Myers passed away April 6, 2004 at Brockville General Hospital after a courageous six-month battle with leukemia. He was born Jan. 12, 1933 in Alexandria, Ont. to Nora and Arnold Myers and spent his early years in Cardinal. He became a teacher and taught for nine years in the Renfrew school system before coming to Prescott in 1963. He taught at South Grenville District High School for 26 years and, for several years, was a summer school instructor in the special education program in Toronto. In 1955, he married Patricia Relyea in Cardinal, and they had two sons ? Robert of Belleville and Peter of Athens, Ont. ? and a daughter Julie, who died in infancy. He was an avid cottager and curler who served as president of the Prescott Curling Club and senior men's curling and was on the board of the Rideau-Seeley Cottagers Association. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his sons Robert and his wife Patricia and Peter and his wife Georgia, his four grandchildren James, Emily, Alex and Eric Myers, his brother John A. Myers and his wife Betty and by his mother-in-law Dorothy Relyea. A private family funeral was held at the Marsden McLaughlin Funeral Home in Cardinal with Rev. Claude Delorme officiating. Burial was at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Morrisburg. The pallbearers were his sons Robert and Peter Myers, his grandson James Myers, his nephews David and Dennis Myers and his godson Taylor Ryan. Memorial donations are directed to the Canadian Cancer Society.
