HAZEL MARGARET SMART Miss Hazel Margaret Smart, a resident of Dawson Court in Thunder Bay, Ont., passed away at her residence June 21, 2004 in her 88th year. Born in Pinewood, Ont. on Nov. 20, 1915, she was the daughter of Thomas and Jessie Smart. Since her retirement from the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital in 1979, she has resided in Thunder Bay. Hazel enjoyed knitting for hospitals and various charities. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Marjorie Byrnes; nephews, Glen (Kim), Thomas (Joyce), and Darcy Byrnes; and sisters-in-law, Elma Smart of West Bank, B.C., and Geraldine Smart of Emo, Ont. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Jessie Smart; brothers, William, Whitelaw and his wife, Frances, and Frank Smart; and sister, Audree Isobel in infancy. In keeping with Hazel’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. Interment will take place at a later date. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com
