FRED MARK ELDRIDGE Fred Mark Eldridge, 77, of International Falls, Mn., passed away peacefully with his family at his side at his home on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004. He was born May 13, 1927 at Lake Minnetonka, Mn., but spent much of his childhood in Scotland. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Aug. 1, 1945, and was honourably discharged on Oct. 12, 1948. Fred worked as a steamfitter for more than 35 years at Boise Cascade. After retiring, he continued on with Boise Cascade as a consultant. He loved to fish, and was especially proud of running a 40-foot launch in Kodiak, Alaska. Fred also enjoyed going to the cabin, cooking and baking, and sharing his goodies with others. Fred always had a smile and kindness for others, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a member on the VFW Club, and cooked at the pancake breakfasts at the club. Fred was predeceased by his parents, John Edis and Margaret Brown Eldridge; son, Mark Eldridge; infant son, Derek Eldridge; and brothers, John Findlay and James Gilchrist Napier. He is survived by his daughters, Paula (Jerome) Olson of Warroad, Mn., Avis (Dale) Juelson of Blackduck, Mn., Brenda (Mark) Strom of Hopkins, Mn., Meg (Jeff) Johnson of International Falls, Mn., and LeAnne Brown and Carrie Ann Brown, both of Calgary, Alta., Canada. Also surviving are his brothers, Ed (Helen) Eldridge of Fort Frances, Ont., and George Eldridge of Las Vegas, Nev.; and sister, Margaret Ann Hall of Elliot Lake, Ont. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as special friends, Einar and Rilla Korpi, also survive. Catholic memorial services will be held Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Faith United Church of Christ, with flag presentation.
