YVONNE MARIE GEAUVREAU-TURNER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Yvonne Geauvreau-Turner (nee Kelly) of the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation, Ont. at the young age of 37. Yvonne will be missed by the many people she knew, but none more than her children, Hannah, seven, and Landen, four. Yvonne’s husband, Jeff Geauvreau, has lost his true love. Yvonne also will be very, very deeply missed by her mother, Lucille Kelly-Davis, and her husband, Brian Davis. She was predeceased by her father, Douglas Kelly; and sister, Marilyn Goodsky (nee Kelly). Yvonne will be missed by her precious surviving siblings, Clarence “Chuck” Kelly, Cheryl Kelly, and Brian Assinewai. Also grieving are Yvonne’s treasured nieces and nephews, Fabian Kelly, Sylver Goodsky, Taylor May, Shane May, Brett May, Ceejay Kelly, Lorralene Kelly, Xylain Brendly Kelly, Eylse Nolet, Nicholas Nolet, Jeffrey Nolet, and Luke Nolet. Also she will be sadly missed by her numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Mourning with Jeff are his parents, Ross and Mary Turner of Mississauga, Ont.; as are his sister, Janice Nolet and her husband, Paul Nolet; and Jeff’s brother, John-Ross Turner. The happiest days of her short life were spent with her children. She took great pride and interest in their lives. She especially enjoyed reading and singing to her children. She also loved singing and playing the classical guitar. Yvonne always loved to laugh, and her laughter and good humour will remain with us forever. She was an accomplished classical guitarist and many will miss the sound of her music. Yvonne will always be remembered by the many people whose lives she touched. Yvonne would like the memory of her to be a happy one—of happy times and bright and sunny days. In 1999, Yvonne was hospitalized at the Mayo Clinic in extremely dire condition when she was 21 weeks pregnant. Yvonne made clear her wishes in the event of her passing and it is her husband, Jeff, who intends to carry out the oath upon which they both agreed. She would not allow the doctors to remove her son to save her life because he would not have survived. Both recovered, and Landen was born 14 weeks later on July 30, 1999. The funeral will be held Thursday, July 22, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the Onigaming First Nation Gymnasium, with Pastor Peggy Mason and Elder Gilbert Smith performing a dual Christian and traditional ceremony. The wake will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at 3 p.m. at the Onigaming First Nation Gymnasium. Should friends and family so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to any Lakewood Credit Union for the trust fund set up for her children, Hannah and Landen Geauvreau-Turner.
