EDNA OLIVE SWENSON Edna Olive Swenson, 86, passed away Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at her home. Edna left this earth as she lived on it, surrounded by loved ones. Edna will be remembered for her kindness, gentleness, and good-hearted spirit. She was a loving grandmother and found great joy in time spent with her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren. “Grams” will forever hold a place in their hearts. Sunday drives with her special friends, Lil Flovick and Ann Longtine, also were always enjoyed by Edna. For several years, Edna worked as a physical therapy aid at Falls Memorial Hospital. She also was a member of Faith United Church of Christ. Edna was born March 17, 1918 in Emo, Ont. to the late Helen (McDermott) and George Mason. She grew up in Fort Frances, Ont., moving to International Falls, Mn. in 1952, where she has lived since. Edna was united in marriage April 15, 1940 to Merritt Swenson, who predeceased her. She also was predeceased by her youngest child, Michael, in 1964; two sisters; and two brothers. She is survived by two sons, Dennis Swenson of St. Paul, Mn. and Garry Swenson of Buhl, Mn.; three daughters, Judy (Joe) Spencer of Duluth, Mn., Jean (Ted) Carlson of Brainerd, Mn., and Nancy Kostiuk of International Falls, Mn.; grandchildren, Michael and David Hawkinson, Marissa Wolden, Michael, Katie, and Lacy Kostiuk, and Sarah Swenson; and great-grandchildren, McKensey Kostiuk, Teddy and Jadelynn Wolden, Alex Hawkinson, Christopher Kane, and Quinn Kostiuk. She also is survived by sisters, Grace Showalter of Toronto, Ont. and Dorothy Judson of Emo, Ont. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at Green-Larsen Mortuary in International Falls. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Faith United Church of Christ in International Falls.
