BERNICE EVELYN PLASKY Bernice Evelyn Plasky, 86, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2004 at her residence. Bernice was born Oct. 10, 1917 to Sigfried and Agnes Haglund in Verndale, Mn. She was united in marriage with Charles Plasky on June 12, 1937 and together they settled in International Falls, Mn., making the move to Fort Frances several years later. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29 in Fort Frances. She was a loving and caring woman who enjoyed looking after her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, on April 26, 1971; parents, Sigfried and Agnes Haglund; son, Ron Plasky in 1982; sisters, Ethel Sjoblom, Lilliam Sjoblom, Judy Wiseman, and Marion Bovea; brother, Kenneth Haglund; sons-in-law, Gary Spencer in 2002 and Gordon Messerschmidt in 2003; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Bernice leaves behind her daughters, Marlys and husband, Dorlyn Desens, of International Falls, Mn., Judith Spencer of Ancaster, Ont., Kathleen Messerschmidt of St. Paul, Mn., and Barbara Plasky of Fort Frances, Ont.; sons, Gordon Plasky and wife, Mary, of International Falls, Mn., and Robert Plasky of Fort Frances, Ont.; and daughter-in-law, Ione. She also will be missed by her 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. At Bernice’s request, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held. If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Bernice’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at Rainycrest for their hard work and care over the last several years.
