JAMES PETER PERREAULT SR. James Peter Perreault Sr., 77, of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., passed away at his residence on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004. James was born April 30, 1927 at Couchiching First Nation. He was raised there by his mother until the age of two, and then by his aunt until the age of eight. He then went to live with his father, Amos, and Laura, whom he came to love as his mother. James was raised with his four sisters and one brother. He began working at a very early age, then at 17 enlisted with the Canadian Army and served in Canada for two years. Upon his discharge, he returned home and was united in marriage on Feb. 9, 1948 to Janet Morrison, who was the love of his life. James worked at the J.A. Mathieu sawmill for several years, at which time he built his first home. He was a father of five children, grandfather of 13, and great-grandfather of eight. James loved being outdoors, where he loved fishing and guiding for many years. He also was a great fan of hockey, and enjoyed watching his grandchildren in hockey or other activities they were involved in. He also enjoyed travelling extensively and creating new adventures for his children. James was quick-witted and had a great sense of humour, and loved casinos. He was loved dearly by his wife, children, and grandchildren, and will be missed dearly. He was predeceased by his father, Amos Perreault; stepmother, Laura Perreault; natural mother, Bernadette Whitefish; daughter, Jean Archie; son, Joey; son-in-law, Bill Carmody; two sisters, Elsie and Catherine; and one great-grandson, Alvin Perreault. James is survived by his wife, Janet Perreault of Couchiching First Nation, Ont.; two sons, Merle and wife, Janice, and James Jr., all of Couchiching First Nation, Ont.; two daughters, Janice and special friend, Bill Williams, of South St. Paul, Mn., and Jocelyn and husband, Steve Johnson, of Northwest Bay First Nation, Ont.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Jake Perreault and wife, Jane, of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Myrtle Bruyere of Ottawa, Ont., and Brenda and husband, Don Monastryski, of Kitchener, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ont., with Deacon Bob Grynol officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 17, 2004 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Parish prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Honourary pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Should family and friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made either to the Canadian Cancer Society, P.O. Box 444, Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3M8 or to the Canadian Diabetes, Association, P.O.
