PARLA, Zehra Saduman (Istanbul) 23 April 1923 (Windsor 15 June 2004 In loving memory of a beloved wife and mother who passed away this date 1 year ago. We feel yet the absence of her omnipresence from our lives. We remember the grace, courage and moral dignity with which she unflinchingly faced her final mortal illnesses. We remember her for her efforts to embody the best of her Istanbul background and upbringing: Her appreciation for education and self-improvement, Her belief that racism and segregation, no matter what the reason, are infinitely sinful, Her belief in gender equality, that nothing at all justified chauvinism and how in life she sought to show that gender was not an impediment to the realization of one's abilities, Her desire and her efforts to be a part of her adopted country and society and never to hide herself from view, Her eye for artistic beauty and her appreciation for artistic expression in all its forms; And again, we remember the grace and the dignity with which she strived to live her life each day; Always and forever a true Istanbul hanimefendi.
