Arthur GARAYT

GARAYT, Arthur. Passed away on July 21, 1998 at Lions Gate Hospital. Born in Montreal October 7, 1923. He will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife Aleta (nee McWhinnie) married fifty-five years. Daughter Sonja (Pat), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sister and special nieces and nephews. Art served with the North Shore (N.S.N.B) Regiment from 1941-45 (Normandy Campaign). Following his service, Art worked as Post Master in Prevost, Quebec and lived in Morin Heights until retiring to North Vancouver in 1984. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends for his humour, kindness and many interests in life. He was a musician, playing the trumpet with various groups in Montreal and the Lower Mainland of B.C. Art was also an avid chess player. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Multiple Sclerosis Society would be greatly appreciated. Spike and Lady (family pets) will miss their special treats.
