MATTHEWS, Ralph Perks. Mr. Ralph Perks Matthews of Calgary, passed away suddenly at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Saturday, August 1, 1998 at the age of sixty-six years, and now joins his beloved wife Jeanne, who predeceased him in March of 1995. Ralph was born in Fulford, Quebec on December 20, 1931. Ralph and Jeanne were married in 1954 and moved out west to start a family and build their future. They lived in Edmonton, Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Calgary and left a trail of lifelong memories and friends. Ralph had a very successful business career and considered himself very fortunate to have spent his final working years with the many special people at Wild Rose Furniture. After his retirement Ralph spent many enjoyable hours at the YMCA and with his friends from the Royal Canadian Legion. His greatest joy was sharing time with his children and grandchildren. During the month of July, Ralph was fortunate to be reunited with his entire family to share lots of love, laughter and memories. Ralph is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Larry Evans of Calgary; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Joan Matthews of Bali, Indonesia and Gary and Cindy Matthews of Calgary; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Kristine, Michelle, Joel, Jake, Leanne and Jeffrey. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Gwen Matthews and three nieces. Funeral services will be held at St. Peter's Anglican Church (903 - 75th Avenue S.W.) today, Wednesday, August 5, 1998 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Giovanni Di Vincenzo officiating. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 2nd floor, 215 - 12th Avenue S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 1A2.
