KEMP, William (Billy) Ernest Eileen Kemp, Billy's wife of 71 years, her son, Professor David Kemp, daughter-in-law Susan and granddaughters Adrian and Stephanie, announce with deep sadness the passing of Billy Kemp at the age of 97. Billy lived a ful l and productive life and was active and alert until the last. Billy was employed by British Rail (Great Western Railway) for the whole of his working life. In World War II, he served for four years in the Royal Air Force, attached to C.F.B. Greenwoo d, Nova Scotia. In Frome, Somerset, he served both Wesley and Portway Methodist Churches for more than 50 years. Billy and Eileen came to Canada in May of 2004 and in that short time Billy renewed his love for the country. On the day of the stroke th at claimed his life, he had enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner with his family and was in top form. Having lived his life in Frome, Billy loved the diversity of Canada and was working his way through Kingston's ethnic menu with gusto, enjoying Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Italian and South American food. He was a remarkable man, a loving husband, and no one could have wished for a better father. He will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held in Kingston on October 28 at 6 p.m. in the Mor gan Memorial Chapel, Theological Hall, Queen's University and, at a later date, in Frome. The family ask that in lieu of floral tributes, a donation be made to Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind (P.O. Box 280 Manotick, ON, K2A 2N0), Billy's favourite charity.
