CARTER Mary, Sister RSCJ. Member of the Community of the Sacred Heart and former Mistress General at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Atwater Avenue, died peacefully in the Community convent in Montreal on October 10, 1998 after sixty-three years of religious life. Besides her religious family, she is survived by her two brothers, Bishop Alexander Carter, Bishop emeritus of Sault Ste. Marie and Cardinal Gerald Emmett Carter, Archbishop emeritus of Toronto. Also survived by her nephews and nieces, Thomas Carter Sr. (Jean O'Brien), Lenore and Gerald (June Foster) Duggan, Michelle Carter-Martin, and great nephews and nieces, Theresa (Warren Davies) and daughter Allison, Alexandra and Thomas Carter Jr., Michael, John (Suzanne Malhood) and Lisa Duggan. Resting at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home, 5610 Sherbrooke Street West. Visitation on Wednesday October 14 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday October 15 at St. Patrick's Basilica at 10 a.m. The mass will be celebrated by Cardinal Carter. Reception to follow the funeral at Residence Sophie-Barat, 11065 Wilfrid St. Louis, Montreal North.
