Annie PIASTA

EVANOCHKO, Annie (nee Piasta) In loving memory of Annie Evanochko (nee Piasta), 82 years, who passed away peacefully at Pioneer Manor, on Tuesday, January 27th, 2004. Born in Yamnitsia, Ukraine in 1921, she came to Canada with her parents and siblings when she was 15 years of age. She married Alex Evanochko (predeceased) in 1940 and together raised two sons and lived a busy life farming in the Churchill District, near Ituna Saskatchewan until they retired and moved into town. After moving to Ituna, she spent many happy hours gardening and talking to neighbours and friends. She was a devout member of Sacred Heart Parish in Ituna before her illness forced her to relocate to Sudbury to be with family members. She was always ready to help with any project and was the head cook for dozens of weddings and special events at the Parish Hall. She loved to go to church and sing the liturgy especially at Christmas and Easter. Annie loved to embroider all kinds of pillows, cushions and table clothes, but her special love was the beautiful Ukrainian shirts and blouses that she made for many people in Canada and the United States. She also embroidered dozens of church linens and there are many churches that have her linens on display to this day. Annie also loved her family, and was never happier than when she was with her sons and their families, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. She was a second mother to many of them. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Bill (Roman), wife Mary (Marusia) and special "Baba" to her only granddaughter Krystine of Coniston, Ontario, son Alexander (Dennis) and fiancée Jeanne Albert of Edmonton, Alberta. Predeceased by her parents Paraska and Steve Piasta, survived by brother Bill (Doris) Piasta Yorkton, Saskatchewan, sister Mary Singhuber (Walter predeceased) of St. Catharines. Predeceased by sisters Stephanie and Doris (George) Evanochko and brothers Andrew (Ukraine), Tony (Olga) Piasta of Ituna, Saskatchewan. Survived by many nieces and nephews across Canada and many friends in Ituna and (Coniston) Sudbury area. Special "kyma" to Angela & Paul Behun - Coniston. A very Special Thank you to Catherine, Helen and all the other staff at Pioneer Manor who helped mom in so many ways and made it her home. VECHNAYA PAMYAT. Thence to rest at the Bailey Funeral Home, Ituna, Saskatchewan where friends may call Friday evening, February 6th, 2004. Panakhyda at 7 p.m. Friday. Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Ituna on Saturday, February 7th, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
