WENMAN, Vicky Victoria "Vicky" Hedvika Wenman (nee Sterba) 46 years old, cherished wife of Richard Wenman of Calgary, Alberta passed away on February 1, 2004 at Oilfields Hospital in Black Diamond, Alberta. She courageously and with great humour, battled many health problems over the years and died peacefully with Rick at her side. Vicky was born in New Liskeard, Ontario and lived her early years in Falconbridge and Sudbury. Following a year at the University of Waterloo she moved to Calgary to attend the University of Calgary in 1975. She married Rick Wenman in 1982 in Sudbury, On. Her beloved and devoted husband and best friend Rick, survives Vicky. Cherished daughter of Grace Sterba of Sudbury and Antonin "Tony" (predeceased 1990), much loved sister of Anna Rouse (husband Jeff) of Sudbury, dear aunt of Ashley Rouse of Montreal. Dear daughter in law of John and Madeleine Wenman of Guelph, Ontario and her special long time friends Lil Bede (nee Joly) of Garson, Ontario and Sharon Proctor (nee Horne) of Strathmore, Alberta. Her aunt, Hedvika Blahusova of the Czech Republic and cousins in both England and the Czech Republic, also survived Vicky. Her feline companion, Petr, will miss her. Vicky will always be remembered for her undaunted spirit, wit, artistic talents especially in creating cartoon characters and stories that kept us all laughing. Vicky loved Western Canada and proudly played tour guide to all who ventured to Calgary. Vicky was an avid reader of the history of the world. She loved to travel despite a fear of flying. She shared Rick's passion for animals and assisted him in his duties promoting the welfare and protection of endangered species. She was always concerned with the environment and animal protection. Despite a kidney transplant and other medical problems. Vicky returned to school and graduated as an Architectural Draughtsman in 2000. A dream fulfilled. Special thank you to Drs. Klassen and Hons and the staff of Foothills Hospital and Oilfields Hospital for all you have done for Vicky over the years. Our sincerest, heartfelt gratitude goes to the anonymous donor family in Calgary for the kidney that kept Vicky with us for 9 years almost to the day. For your selfless act of generosity and the gift of life, we cannot thank you enough. Please consider being an organ donor, it means more than you can imagine. In lieu of flowers a kind donation to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Association would be most appreciated. Memorial Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury, Sunday, February 8th, 2004 at 2:30 pm (Friends may call after 2:15 pm Sunday). 2/5/2004- ID3391193 - Sudbury Star
