KILIMNIK, Walter In loving memory of Walter Kilimnik, 85 years who passed away on February 15, 2004 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre. Walter was born on January 24, 1919 in Coniston, Ontario, son of Frank Kilimnik and Mary (Acker). In 1935 he began working for INCO in the Coniston Smelter. Walter left a few years later to find work in Southern Ontario. When World War Two broke out Walter joined the armed forces later discharged for medical reasons. He returned to Coniston and INCO. In 1942 Walter married Frances Solski, daughter of John and Katie Solski of Coniston. He then took a job with the Imperial Life Assurance Company with whom he worked for over 50 years. Walter and Frances left their mark on Coniston. Active in their church, Walter served on the Parish Council and was on the Building Committee and then fund raiser in the construction of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He served on the Coniston Separate School Board for a number of years and was Town Councillor and Mayor of Coniston from 1953 to 1958. In 1959 Walter and Frances moved to Sudbury where they raised two children. Walter served for many years with the parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Walter loved working in a garden, fishing, cooking and spending time at his camp on lake Nipissing. Walter had two sisters, Annie Podhajni and Sophie Foran and one brother Joe Kilimnik, all of whom predeceased him. His wife Frances predeceased him in 1992. He is survived by his son John, daughter Mary-Catherine (husband Richard Sargent), granddaughter Michele Ann, of North York, his special friend Sophie Lucky and 17 nieces and nephews. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Hope Church, Thursday, February 19th, 2004 at 10 am. Interment in the Civic Cemetery.
