CASAGRANDE, Anna Victoria (nee Vetterotti) In loving memory of Anna Victoria Casagrande who passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004. Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother died peacefully at the SRH-Laurentian Site. Anna Victoria (nee Vetterotti) Casagrande affectionately known to many as "Nonni" was born in Maine, Province of Treviso, Italy on June 25, 1920. She was the youngest child born to Maria and Robert Vetterotti (predeceased). Sister to Leone, Antonio, Danielo, and Maria (all predeceased). At a very young age, Anna began working in order to help support her family. She never flinched or backed away from hard work and always put others before herself. Although her life appeared to be full of challenges and hardships, Anna continued to help others and never turned others away. She married her husband, Domenico Casagrande on December 28, 1945 in Italy. They had a beautiful daughter Lucianna the following year. The young family struggled however finally decided that if they were to have any future for themselves and for their children, they needed to leave their homeland and relocate to Canada. This also proved to be a difficult time as Domenico travelled to Canada in 1948 on his own settling in Copper Cliff, Ontario. He worked for his wife's and daughter's passage and they were finally able to join him in 1949. Anna left all of her family behind when she left Italy and this was quite painful for her, however with new hope and the joy of reuniting with her husband, she valiantly crossed the Ocean to be with her true love. Anna and Domenico struggled, however were able to prosper and built a very good life for themselves. Another child Judy was born into the family in 1952. Anna took extreme pride in her home and welcomed all who entered. She was a very active and energetic woman who would never sit still even for a minute. She remained very active until failing health took away the opportunity to walk for any distance. Anna is survived by her husband of 58 years, Domenico Casagrande. There are two daughters, Lucianna (Lucy) (husband Gilles Robillard predeceased December 7, 1983) and Judy (husband Stefan Krasuski predeceased April 17, 2001). Two wonderful and loving grand- children, Amanda and Joshua. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. (Friends may call 2-5; 7-9 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday). (Prayers 3 p.m. Thursday). Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan Road, Sudbury Friday, April 2, 2004 10:30 a.m. Entombment at the Parklawn Mausoleum. Donations can be made to the Lung Association. We will miss you terribly, however we realize that you were tired and wanted to once again feel the warmth of the sun, the bloom of youth and the joy of being well. Death is but a doorway to a world full of light, eternal life and the energy to once again feel whole. 3/31/2004- ID3680607 - Sudbury Star
