PIRO, Francesco "Frank" In loving memory of Francesco Piro 75 years of Sudbury who passed away Saturday afternoon, May 2, 2004 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital-Laurentian Site. Francesco was born in Pina Crati, Cosenza, Italy. He came to Sudbury in 1953. A hardworking man he was employed at Acme Construction Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1990. He had been a longtime member of the local Labourers Union. He was a keen gardener especially proud of his grapevines and he was an accomplished wine maker. He enjoyed dancing and watching sporting events especially tennis. Frank will be remembered as a very kind and generous person who was quick to help others. He was the definitive good neighbour and fondly called "Nonno" by the local children. Beloved husband of Angele (Giroux) Piro of Sudbury. Cherished son of Felice and Angelina Piro predeceased. Loving brother of Erminia Prezio (husband Palmo predeceased) of Sudbury, Carmela Covelli (husband Salvatore) of Toronto, Ida Scornaienghi (husband Antonio) of Toronto, Antonio Piro predeceased, Benito Piro (wife Anna) of Sudbury and Giuseppe Piro (wife Antonietta) of Italy. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews and cousins. Sadly missed by Danny, Anita, Dale, Sue, Shawn and Christine. Special brother-in-law of Willi and Laurie Beier of Oshawa, Marie Perih of Sudbury, and Giuliano and Simone Traverso of Sudbury. Resting at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Funeral Mass in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 1250 Barrydowne Rd., Sudbury, Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at 10 am. Cremation at the Parklawn Crematorium. Prayers 7:30 pm Monday. Donations to the Northern Cancer Research Fund would be appreciated.
