CRAIG, Vera Johnston (nee Jarvis) In loving memory of Vera Johnston Craig (nee Jarvis), 100 years 7 months old, who passed away at Extendicare Falconbridge Nursing Home, Sunday morning May 8, 2004. She was born in Copper Cliff, Ontario on October 6, 1903. As a young woman she worked for Edward Grain Co. for Mr. Jim Edward. She married Clyval Craig in 1935 and moved to Kirkland Lake Ontario where she worked for the Northern Daily News. Vera returned to Sudbury in 1959 and worked for the Municipal Township Offices in Falconbridge, Ontario for 13 years retiring in 1973. She then began her most satisfying career of all as a volunteer in the Xray Department of the Sudbury General Hospital where she made many friends until she left at the age of 83 years. Vera resided at St. Andrew's Place at 111 Larch Street, Sudbury for over 25 years during which time she enjoyed an extended family with the residents, Church members and staff of St. Andrew's United Church until she entered Extendicare Falconbridge in 1997. Beloved daughter of William and Anne Jarvis (predeceased). Loving mother of Jac (spouse Joyce) of London, Ontario and Jim (spouse Linda) of Sudbury, Ontario. Loving sister of Violet Lear, Neilson Jarvis, Dana Jarvis, Percy Jarvis and Earl Jarvis (all predeceased). Loving grandmother of Lisa Clough (spouse John) of Lambeth, Ontario and Jennifer Craig of London, Ontario. Steven Craig (predeceased 1997). Step grandchildren Kimberly Holmberg (spouse Brent) and Robert Carmichael (spouse Christina) all of Sudbury. Four great grandchildren Jake Clough and Spencer Clough of Lambeth, Ontario, Stephanie Craig of Sudbury, Ontario and Matthew Craig (predeceased 1986). Three step great grandchildren Britney Holmberg, Brooke Holmberg and Kelly Carmichael all of Sudbury, Ontario. Beloved Aunt of many nieces and nephews across Canada who she kept in close touch with. At Vera's request there will be no visitation; no service; cremation. The cremains will be interred in the family plot at the Eyre Cemetery.
