VARIEUR, Rita (nee Shanks) In loving memory of Rita (nee Shanks) Varieur, 83 years, who passed away peacefully Friday evening, July 23, 2004 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital- Laurentian Site. Born in Sturgeon Falls, she married Roland Sr. in Sudbury, in 1939. Rita was a volunteer with the Red Cross Society for many years and she was a member of St Eugene's Church and CWL. She was the Photo Librarian at the Sudbury Star for many years. Rita loved to knit and read, she enjoyed cooking and watching cooking shows on TV always looking for a new idea. She had a great relationship with her family and her friends. Beloved wife of Roland Sr. predeceased in 1980. Loving mother of Jean Guy "Jack" (wife Joyce) of Manitoulin Island and Roland Jr. (wife Mary) of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of Dr. Stephen (wife Denusha) of Manitoulin Island, Michael (wife Brenda) of Huntsville, Stephanie of Kitchener and Renée Henri of Kitchener; and great grandchildren Natasha, Alani, Jasper and Zackary. Dear daughter of August and Lea Shanks both predeceased. Dear sister of Grace (husband Abbe Gagnon predeceased) of Sudbury and Henri (wife Soulange) of Sturgeon Falls. She will be sadly missed by everyone including several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service in the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St., Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at 11 am. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favourite charity would be appreciated.
