LEWIS Daniel-Hooker Peacefully with family at his side at the Bruyere Palliative Care Unit, Ottawa, early Wednesday, March 17, 1999. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Aug. 19, 1913, son of Dr. Joseph Stocking Lewis and his wife Isabelle St. Clair Denny. He is survived by his loving wife and closest friend of 55 years, Miriam Cruikshank, his three daughters Elizabeth Withers (John), Catherine Stanley (Doug), Eloise Lewis (Jock McGregor) and eight special grandchildren Amanda, Meredith, David Withers, Daniel, Matthew, Barbara Stanley, Kylie, and Blair McGregor. He leaves as well his loving siblings Joan Lewis French and Sheldon Lewis (Joan) of Elmira, N.Y., and George Lewis (Alice Marie) of Fort Worth, Texas, and several cousins. He is specially remembered by his many nieces and nephews both in the U.S. and Canada. The family wish to particularly acknowledge the outstanding care and support we received from his physician Dr. David Esdaile, his many care givers throughout his lengthy illness and particularly his devoted practical nurse for the past ten months, Nicole Davilmar. A memorial service to celebrate Dan's life will be held at St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, Mackay and Victoria Streets, Ottawa, on Monday, March 29, at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's Aid Society of Ottawa Carleton where for many years Dan volunteered his time and photography, "The Champions for Children Foundation", 1602 Telesat Court, Ottawa, Ont., K1B 1B1, or to a charity of your choice.
