Sara DRENNAN

SARA MELIN Sara “Pat” Melin, 87, of Bemidji, Mn., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998 at North Country Regional Hospital. She was born Feb. 18, 1911 in Hacket, Mn. to John and Mary (McInnis) Drennan of Rainy River, Ont. She grew up and attended school at McInnis Creek. She went to Bemidji in 1935 and later married Lars “Gust” Melin on May 7, 1938 in Bena, Mn. She lived in the Bemidji area since, with the exception of two-and-a-half years she and Gust spent at Everett, Wash. during World War II. Pat was the last of a family of 11 children (five sisters and five brothers). She enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. Her husband passed away Aug. 24, 1971. Survivors included a very special niece, Marilyn “Melin” Kelstrom of Arlington Heights, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Florence (Joe) Drennan and Elvina (Jack) Drennan; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 25, 1998 at the Olson Schwartz Funeral Home, with Rev. Karin Maberg officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were her nephews, Bruce Caldwell, Elroy Douglas, Sterling Douglas, and Stanford Jensson.
