Two local girls killed in holiday accident An accident on Hwy. 11, in the town of Novar last week, has claimed the life of two local girls. Julie Bouffard and Cindy Champagne were travelling southbound on Hwy. 11 when they lost control of the vehicle and were struck by a northbound vehicle. Ms Bouffard, the passenger, was pronounced dead on the scene, while Ms Champagne received major injuries and was transported to Sunnybrook. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to Huntsville District Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The Times has learned that Ms Champagne has died as a result of the injuries. At press time family members were returning to Kapuskasing and funeral arrangements were being made with Guenette's Funeral Home. Cindy is the daughter of Bob and Diane Champagne, and Rachel (Ben) Sinai. She had recently moved to Whitby where she was working. 22 year old Julie Bouffard of Val Rita, died at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital on Dec. 29, 1999. Ms Bouffard was born Sept. 9, 1977 in Timmins. She was a student. She was a member of CKGN and enjoyed spending time with her friends. Ms Bouffard is survived by her parents Ginette and Remi Bouffard, brothers Eric and Regis of Val Rita and grandmother Lucienne Goudreault of New Liskeard. Rev. Louis-Philippe Belanger directed the funeral service at Ste. Rita. Ms Bouffard will be interred at the Val Rita cemetery.
