LINDA ROSE HUNTLEY Linda Huntley, 52, of 1709 Colonization Rd. W., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances on Friday, Dec. 29, 2000. She was born March 3, 1948 in Fort Frances to the late Henri and Edna Pennarun. Linda attended Lakehead Teachers’ College in 1968. On June 27, 1970, she was united in marriage to Harold Huntley and raised their family of four children. Throughout the years, Linda taught in the separate school system as an elementary school teacher, a special education teacher, and later as curriculum co-ordinator. In 1997, she was seconded to the Red Lake Area Combined Roman Catholic Separate School Board as principal of St. John’s School. In 1998, Linda was appointed as principal of Our Lady of the Way School in Stratton, Ont., where she worked until transferring in September, 2000 to St. Michael’s School in Fort Frances. Linda worked tirelessly for the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association. At home, she loved decorating and working on many types of crafts, which she so much enjoyed. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, and a member of the C.W.L. in Fort Frances. Linda also loved travelling with her family, and spending most of her time with her husband, children, grandchildren, sisters, and brothers. She was predeceased by her father-in-law, Walter Huntley. Linda is survived by her husband, Harold Huntley of Fort Frances, Ont.; four children, Andrea Huntley and husband, Lawrence Holland, of Windsor, Ont., Trevor Huntley and friend, April, of Fort Frances, Ont., Clarence Huntley and friend, Sheryl, of Cold Lake, Alta., and Bonnie Huntley of London, Ont.; and three grandchildren, Amanda, Terrance, and Ethan. She also is survived by four brothers, Allan Pennarun and wife, Joyce, of Fort Frances, Ont., Maurice Pennarun and wife, Princess, of Thunder Bay, Ont., Gerald Pennarun of Vancouver, B.C., and Daniel Pennarun and friend, Karen, of Brampton, Ont.; and five sisters, Thea and husband, Jan Baron, of Holland, Theresa Addison of Fort Frances, Ont., Catherine and husband, Ken Schroeder, of Grand Rapids, Mn., Monica and friend, John, of Bowmanville, Ont., and Mary and husband, Brian Mitchell, of Fort Frances, Ont. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Anita and husband, Tim Fowler, of Fort Frances, Ont., and Brenda and husband, Ken Sisco, of Roddick Township, Ont.; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Huntley of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Father Eugene Whyte O.M.I. and Father James Panikulam officiated, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances. Friend visited Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001 from 7:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Parish prayers were offered at 8 p.m. Pallbearers were Dennis Huntley, Laurie O’Neill, Keith McRae, Bob DeVos, Vincent Pennarun, and Justin Addison. Honourary pallbearers were Mariette McRae, Paulette DeVos, Laura Haner, Theresa Dennis, Monique Strain, and Grace Huntley.
