TURNBULL, Frances 5 years without you Our hearts are heavy on this sad and dark day We remember a sky-so-blue perfect day when we all settled into chairs next to one another in the backyard. We said the blades of grass felt nice and cool underneath our bare feet. Because we were facing the sun, we remember the light of that late afternoon shining like strands of diamonds woven into your hair of shimmering red. And every so often, during a pause in conversation, you would gather up your hair with one hand, to reclaim it from the breeze, and then tuck it back neatly away from your face. It was during those quiet moments that this vision of you formed an imprint in our minds. It was like looking at the most beautifully painted picture. And as the evening settled in, we were glad that you were too distracted by conversation to bother with your hair. Because it gave us more time to watch your curls blow in the wind. Loved forever by your son Les, your daughter-in-law Lisa, family and friends. Published in the Windsor Star on 6/16/2005.
