Raymond Laplante, 57 Fifth St. of Smooth Rock Falls, died at SRF Hospital on Nov. 8, 2000 after a lengthy illness. He was 56 years of age. Mr. Laplante was born Dec. 10, 1943 in Smooth Rock Falls. Mr. Laplante worked as an Electrical Instrumentation Superintendent for Tembec. He enjoyed Curling, Golfing, and Traveling. Mr. Plante was a member of the Knights of Columbus (third degree), as well as being active civically. His friends say, that he was a great friend, always willing to help, and had a positive outlook. Mr. Laplante is survived by his wife Carol Laplante of SRF, father Lionel and mother Blanche Yvonne Laplante, son Alan (Lisa) Laplante of Ottawa, and one daughter Lea (Jarl) Skagstad of Norway. He is also survived by seven sisters; Louise Cumming of Australia, Jean d'Arc Conacchia of Scarborough, Julie Laplante of Etobicoke, Eva Veitch of Callander and Pierettee Grégore of Cochrane, Mona Laplante of Montreal and Françoise Brison of Hanmer. He had one grandchild Raymond Martin Skagstad. Funeral service was held at St. Gertrude. Mr. Laplante will be interred at the SRF cemetery.
