Christiana Neegan Funeral services for former longtime Mattice resident Christiana (nee Sutherland) Neegan, 85, of Mountjoy St. S., Timmins were held Aug. 31, 2000 in Hearst. She died suddenly, Aug. 27 at Timmins and District Hospital. Born Feb. 14, 1915 in Moose Factory, she came to Mattice in 1930. Following a brief stay in the Toronto area in 1985 for health reasons, she then moved to Kapuskasing a year later and then to Timmins. Described as a family-oriented homemaker, private and hard working, she enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking, collecting ornaments, listening to music, and daily reading of the Bible. She is predeceased by sons Merle Neegan in 1994 in Timmins, infants Theodore and James Neegan, and a sister Maggie Fletcher earlier this year in Missanabie. She leaves: husband Dave Neegan of Timmins; son Kenneth (Beulah) of Constance Lake and Gary (Wilma) of Timmins; daughter-in-law Theresa Neegan of Thunder Bay; granddaughters Eva (Earl) Johnson of Alabama, Verna Neegan of Thunder Bay, Donna (Carl) Orr of Peterborough, Cheryl (John Wesley) Neegan and Charlene Neegan, all of Constance Lake, and Dawn and Christine Neegan, both of Timmins; grandsons David (Denise) Neegan of Red Lake, Peter (Tabitha) Neegan and Jonathan Neegan, all of Thunder Bay, Neil and Wayne Neegan, both of Constance Lake, and Darryl Neegan of Timmins; and 14 great grandchildren. Rev. Frank Mason of Kapuskaing officiated the service at St. Matthew's/St. Paul's Anglican/United Church in Hearst. Interment followed at the Riverside Cemetery.
