Lionel Gagné Funeral services for longtime Lac Ste-Thérèse resident Lionel Joseph Gagné, 78, of Lot 3, Concession 8 swere held May 8, 2000. He died May 3 following an at-home accident. Born Oct. 12, 1921 in St-Honoré, Quebec, he came to Lac Ste-Thérèse in 1952. He bought and ran the village general store and then went into pulpwood trucking with brother contractor Laurent Gagné for several years before selling the store in the early 1980s. Described by family as courageous, positive outlook, goodnatured, honest, comical and outgoing, he enjoyed gardening and working with wood. A brother René Gagné of Timmins died in 1998. The deceased leaves: wife Aurore (née Lagacé) Gagné of Timmins; daughters Lyne Gagné and Francine (Paul) Harrisson, all of Timmins; sisters Yvonne Gagné of St-Honoré and Adrienne Gagné of Montréal; brothers Camille and Harmel of St-Honoré, Laurent (Angéline) of Granby, Florient (Fernande) of St-Pascale, Freddy (Adrienne) of Cacouna, Que., and Gérard of Montréal; and granddaughter Crystal Gagné and grandson Justin Harrisson, both of Timmins. Rev. Réal Veilleux officiated the service at the St-Pie X Church. Interment will be at the Monseigneur Grenier Cemetery.
