Gordon F. Townson, 65 Bowman, Kapuskasing, died suddenly at Sensenbrenner Hospital on Feb. 9, 2000. He was 72 years old. Mr. Townson was born Aug. 13, 1927 in Birkenhead, England. He worked as a stationary engineer for the Department of Defense until retiring in 1992. He was a veteran of the Royal Navy and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, small engine repairs and hockey. Mr. Townson is described as a loving and caring person with a wonderful sense of humour. Mr. Townson was predeceased by his parents Muriel and Frank Townson, son Robert Townson and step-son Rodger Phillips. He is survived by wife Maureen, sons John (Maisie) Wesley of Winnipeg, David (Anne) Townson and Roy (Shelley) Townson of Kap and Bryan (Lela) Townson of Thunder Bay and daughters Lynda (Ray) Ouellette and Gail (Andre) Girouard of Kap, and Rhonda (Yvon) Dumais of Stoney Creek. Also surviving are daughter-in-law Dorothy of Peace River, brother Ged of England and sisters Jean and Shiela of England. Mr. Townson had 16 grandchildren.
