Lydia Filion, 107 chemin Kelly, Smooth Rock Falls, died at SRF Hospital on Feb. 4, 2000. She was 99 years old. Mrs. Filion was born Oct. 25, 1900 in Cacouna, Quebec. She worked as a housewife. She arrived in Moonbeam in 1929 with her husband Arthur and seven children. She was one of the original pioneers in that area and remained there until 1989. Mrs. Filion was predeceased by her husband Arthur and sons Rosaire, Aurèle and Léon. She is survived by sons René (Rachelle) of Fauquier, Aimé (Jeannette), Réal (Yolande), Rosaire (Murielle), all of Moonbeam, Paul-Arthur (Laurette) of Harty, Roland (Olive) of Kapuskasing and Lionel (Dorlyn) of Gatineau; and daughters Cécile (Benoît) Lepage of Fauquier, Fernande (Philippe) Albert of Moonbeam, Thérèse (Raynald) Blouin of SRF and Claudette Filion of Kap. Mrs. Filion had 43 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren. Rev. Jean-Guy Mailloux directed the funeral service at Nativité de Marie. Mrs. Filion will be interred at the Moonbeam cemetery.
