Raymond Vaillancourt, 100 Byng, Kapuskasing, died in Victoria, British Columbia on Jan. 2, 2000. He was 54 years old. Mr. Vaillancourt was born March 6, 1945 in Hearst. He worked as a foreman for Spruce Falls since 1966. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards and was a master at bridge. Mr. Vaillancourt was predeceased by his brothers Fernand and Gérard. He is survived by wife Corinne of Kap, sons Guy (Virginia Pettigrew) and Louis of Victoria, BC, brothers Robert of Hearst, Gilles of Timmins and Marcel of Laval, Quebec, and sisters Clairette Vaillancourt of Hearst, Marielle St-Pierre of Florida, and Fernande Vaillancourt and Lise Grenier, both of Kap. Also surviving are granddaughter Joelle and in-laws Lydia and Roland Mador of Kap. Rev. Gilles Gosselin directed the funeral service at Immaculée Conception. Cremation at the J. H. Fleury Crematorium in Rouyn-Noranda.
