GILDAY, Euphemia Blakeney (nee Walker). B.A. History (Lieutenant Canadian Red Cross in Number 1 Canadian General Hospital through Italian and Northwest Europe Campaign, W.W.II; graduate of Branksome Hall and University of Toronto, Kappa Alpha-Pheta) Peacefully, at Castleview-Wychwood Towers, Toronto, on Friday, February 11, 2000, after a lenghty illness borne with great courage and dignity, at the age of ninety-one. She always had an inner joy and a strong will to live. Beloved wife of Thomas P. Gilday, D.S.O., E.D., U.E. Dear mother of Leonard T.P. Gilday of Bowen Island, British Columbia and Douglas C. Gilday of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. Survived by four grandchildren Jesse, Logan and Byron of Whitehorse, Yukon and granddaughter Phoebe Rose on Bowen Island. Dear daughter of the late Mary Augusta Woods and Professor Thomas L. Walker, Ph.D. (Doctor of Science, Flavell Medal). Dear sister of James Woods Walker, Q.C., O.B.E. and William Petty Walker, O.B.E., both of whom predeceased her. Granddaughter of the late Sir James Woods, K.M.G. and Lady Euphemia Woods. A private family service was held on Wednesday, February 16. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Grateful thanks are due to her medical advisors and to many nurses and staff who made her life easier to bear. Thanks to them, she enjoyed life in her world to the end, without pain or suffering.
