SMITH, Therese Lucille (nee Cusson) Passed away peacefully on March 9, 2000, at Island Lodge. Wife of the late Douglas H. Smith. Daughter of the late Ida Rockburn and Joseph Cusson. Sister of the late Lillian Blondin and Edward Cusson. Mourned by nieces Jean McCloskey, Susan Vail, Kathy Johnston, Paula Gervais and nephew Jack Cusson, and many grand nieces and nephews. Dear cousin of Yvonne Potvin and friend of Germaine Lauzon and Margaret Watters of Arnprior. Therese worked for the Government of Canada for 35 years and was a devoted member of the Rebekah Lodge, Chapter 14. She was the recipient of the Anti-Slavery Society of Canada Award in recognition of her close association and work with the Black community in the Ottawa area. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2000. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, Barrette Street, Vanier on Monday, March 13, 2000, at 1 p.m. Interment at Beechwood Cemetery.
