RODRIGUES, Anthony "Brian" In loving memory of Anthony "Brian" Rodrigues, 59 years, who passed away peacefully, with his wife at his side, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer, Sunday, March 12th, 2000 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. Born in Guyana, South America, he came to Canada in 1963, living in Toronto. He worked as a Marketing Agent in the Insurance Industry. In May of 1978 he moved to Coniston, and married Jane. In September of that year he became Manager of Vanguard Pharmacy. In 1986 he and Jane opened their own business, "Whirly Winkles" a deli in downtown Sudbury, which they operated until 1996. After retiring he worked as a night auditor at the Brockdan Motel and Cassio's Motor Hotel until his illness. Brian served three terms as a trustee with the Sudbury Catholic School Board. He was a staunch defender of Student & Parent Rights, and will be remembered for his efforts solving the problems for both the people he represented and many of those he did not. Beloved husband of Jane (Franchetto) Rodrigues of Coniston. Loving father of Matthew and Sara at home and Phillip of Toronto. Dear son of Clement and Gloria Rodrigues of Scarborough. Dear brother of John (wife Bertilla) of Capreol, Ann of Scarborough and the late Brian (predeceased 1982). Dear uncle "The Boss" of Damian (wife Cheryl) of Cornwall, Brendan (wife Mary) of Hanmer, Derek of Dundas, Declan (wife Mary) of Ottawa, Emlyn (fiancee Janet) of Ottawa, Ann Marie (husband Ron) of Mississauga, Marin and Grace both of Dundas. Dear great uncle of Jarrod, Kennedy, Jana and Holly. Memorial Mass at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Coniston, Saturday, March 25th, 2000 at 7 p.m. Cremation in the Parklawn Crematorium. Donations to the Northern Cancer Research Fund or Sudbury Regional Palliative Care would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME.(The Sudbury Star)
