LONG, Anne Elizabeth Winnifred (nee Tidy). Of Antigonish, beloved wife of Reverend Canon George A. Long, died on April 4, 2000 in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in LaPrairie, Quebec, she was the daughter of the late Edward Peter and Florence (Locke) Tidy. Winnifred was a wonderful lady who unselfishly devoted her life to her church and to helping others. Besides her husband, she is survived by sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn N. Long, Montreal; Audrey M. Olmstead (late Harold), Montreal; Audrey Tidy (late Wilfred), Hamilton, Ontario; brother-in-law; Gordon Long and wife Anne Marie, Tracadie; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her dear twin brother, Wilfred. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday with Eucharistic Funeral Service on Friday at 11 a.m. both in St. Paul the Apostle Anglican Church, Antigonish with Celebrant, the Right Reverend Fred J. Hiltz, Suffragate Bishop of the Diocese of Nova Scotia and P.E.I. officiating assisted by Reverend Katherine Bourbonniere and Canon George A. Long. Interment of ashes to follow at Grace Church Cemetery, Sutton, Quebec, at a later date. Many thanks to the remarkable staff at St. Martha's Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Martha's Hospital, St. Paul the Apostle Church or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to the C.L. Curry Funeral Home, Antigonish.
