SCANLAN, John Charles In loving memory of John Charles Scanlan, 67 years of Sudbury Monday morning, May 8th, 2000 at the SRH - St. Joseph's Health Center. He was born in Gogama and married Mary (Thompson) in 1960 in Sudbury. John came to Sudbury in 1950. He was the assistant manager at Roy's Furniture for many years retiring in 1992 due to failing health. After retirement he was a starter at the Lively Golf Club. A devout Roman Catholic he attended St. Anthony's Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and in his younger days fished and hunted with family and friends; however his main recreational pastime was golfing at the Lively course. John will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour and many acts of friendship. He was devoted to his loving family. Beloved husband of Mary (Thompson) Scanlan of Sudbury. Loving father of John Jr. (wife Rachel), Sharon Kennaley (husband Charles) and Patricia Perreault (husband Ron) all of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of Denise Scanlan (Duane Forest), Bobby-Lynn Scanlan (Wayne Graham), Melissa Piché, John David Scanlan, Paul Kennaley, Samantha Kennaley, and Leah Perreault; great grandchildren Hope and Corey Forest, Dalton and Hunter Graham. Dear son of John Charles and Leonne (Charron) Scanlan predeceased. Dear brother of Yvette Mainville (husband Len predeceased) of Kapuskasing, Dorothy Souliere (husband Ed predeceased) of Sudbury, Rita Matthews (husband Allan) of Halifax, N.S., Pierrette, Malette, Jacqueline Carriere (husband Charles predeceased), Marcel Scanlan (wife Rolande) all of Sudbury, Helen McGregor (husband Dick) of Pembroke and the late[0] Cecile Gauthier (husband Mac), Marie Hudson (husband Pete) and Simone Scanlan all predeceased. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Resting at the JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Funeral Mass in St. Anthony's Church, 19 Mary St., Sudbury, Thursday, May 11th, 2000 at 10 a.m. Interment in the Civic Cemetery, Sudbury. Donations to Northern Cancer Research Fund would be appreciated. (Friends may call 2-5; 7-9 p.m. Wednesday). (The Sudbury Star)
