THIBAULT, Mary (Marie) Selina 1925 - 2000 Mary (Marie) Selina Thibault, a beautiful Mom and a friend to all, found peace in the arms of God on Monday, May 8, 2000. She joins her dear husband Nels, sons Wayne and Bradley, parents Michael and Dorothy Cetchuk, and brothers Joe and Bill, in Heaven. Marie's family and friends are filled with sorrow at her passing. There is also joy that Marie is at peace and in comfort, free from physical woes and earthly cares. In her final days, Marie was tended by her sisters - Dot Seeds and Irene Preston of Toronto, and Madlyn Hull of Azilda, and her daughters Diane, Carol and Joanne - in St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care, God's waiting room. Much love and joy were shared as Marie and those nearest and dearest to her wished her comfort and Godspeed in her journey to heaven. Prayers and loving thoughts abounded from near and far. Many relatives and friends from the east sent tremendous comfort in their words of caring. Marie's room was filled with the beautiful fragrance of tulips from her garden and floral bouquets from the Ladies of All Nations Church in Sudbury and the Chouinards in Ottawa. Throughout her time with us Marie gave love and taught love by giving of herself with unwavering commitment. Marie shared many happy times in the company of her large and loving extended family, the Cetchuk-Mason clan. Life presented Marie with more than her fair share of difficulties yet her tremendous inner strength gave her the will to love and be loved. Marie's legacy of love lives on in her grandchildren Sean, Shannon, Andrea, Matthew, Korbin, Tarik, John, Jody, Josée and Lesley, and her great-grandchildren Ashley, Nathalia and Sabastian. Marie's greatest gifts and talents were her warmth, commitment, hospitality, and community activism. She gave of herself in Parry Sound and Larchwood where she helped to raise her sisters and brothers; as a mother to her children through the Eyre Playground Association, MacMillan Public School Parent and Teacher Association, and St. Luke's United Church. She worked alongside her husband Nels for social justice through the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers' Union and Local 598 Ladies' Auxiliary. In Sudbury, Marie welcomed many visitors to Country Style Donuts on the Kingsway with her wonderful service and lots of smiles. In Winnipeg, during her many years of bookselling with daughter Joanne, she greeted every visitor to the bookstore with enthusiasm and offered the kind of customer service that books are written about. Marie's neighbours held a very special place in her heart, whether they were in Minnow Lake, the Key River, Saskatoon, or Winnipeg. Her intimate friendship with the Manwell family, which started in Sudbury, was rekindled through Beverly in Winnipeg. Fond memories were created through family relationships with the Poirier, Ikonen, and Comtois clans. Marie's life will be honoured and remembered at a memorial service at All Nations Church, Prete Street location, on Saturday, June 3, 2000 at 3:00 pm. Internment at the family plot in Parklawn Cemetery, Sudbury, will follow. Marie was honoured and remembered by dear friends and family at a memorial held in Winnipeg. Marie loved and embraced prayer and supported the work of many helping organizations. She shared a special affinity with Trinity United Church in Winnipeg and was grateful for the tender care she received at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care. Marie was also proud to honour the memory of her husband Nels through the Manitoba Occupational Health and Safety Centre - Manitoba Federation of Labour.
